The Forest Called… We Answered

May is always such an exciting month.  The forests and fields spring vibrantly back to life, people start spending more time outdoors, and there is food to be found everywhere!  Our 2nd annual Foraged New York Festival was a huge success!  People all over the Capital Region enjoyed wild harvested treats at 15 different bars, cafes, and restaurants!

Our May Dinner by Chef Matt Joyce kicked off Foraged week!  He incorporated wild Leeks into his menu amongst the mountains of mushrooms!

We hosted the Darrow School for a mycological Field Trip! The visiting students had been studying sustainability and they were very excited to learn about the ways mushrooms are grown and can be used to remediate environmental damages!

Maria from Bliss Arts returned with a bi-monthly Vinyasa Yoga flow on the first and third Sundays (We’ll be skipping June 18th this month)

Local author/ illustrator Libby Rose stopped in to ask if we’d carry her incredibly delightful new coloring book “The Cowbatross and other VERY REAL Creatures” and we couldn’t resist!  Such a fun imaginative romp through the imagination.

We welcomed former Siena student Rylie to our internship program.  She will be learning the ins and outs of growing and caring for mushrooms.

We are excited to welcome Erik as a part time employee!  He started as an intern while he was attending RPI and now he’ll be helping us mushroom even more!

Meadowlark Meatless Mondays continues to wow guests with their incredible creations!  This plate of smoked mushrooms on a bed of creamy polenta was divine!

  We are very excited to be partnering with Kru Coffee to craft a lion’s mane infused cold brew ready to consume canned drink.  Our first batch should be hitting shelves Soon!

We are proud to now offer Brooke’s Botanicals in our shop.  Brooke hand crafts small batch skin and hair care products incorporating various medicinal mushrooms.

Assemblymember Scott Bendett toured our farm and talked to us about strategies to get Psilocybin legislation passed in New York.

June Events Amongst the Mushrooms

June 4th we’ll be slinging some fungi based vegan eats at the Troy Veg Out! We’ll have BBQ sliders, Savory waffles, and lots of sweet treats! Be sure to stop by and say hi!

June 10th will be Collar CIty Mushrooms’ Music and Creativity Celebration featuring Photographer MycoFox, DJ Positive Energy Corporation, food by Mallos and a MyBacon tasting by My Forest Foods (Rumor has it there may be a few bands too!  Stay Tuned for more info)

June 17: Rosendale Theater Fungi Film Festival: a day long celebration of fungi on film with walks, talks, and poetry readings! 

Further down the line:

July 15: Indian Ladder Farms Farming Man festival.  We’ll be vending at Farming man again!  It’s a great way to get some music and have some fun on the beautiful grounds of Indian Ladder Farms.

September 14 – 17:

Avery will be giving a keynote talk about the changing perspectives surrounding psilocybin use during the 23rd annual Northeast Mycological Federation Mushroom Foray

September 24th: 6th Annual Broome County Vegan Festival
